Vermiculite Plasters
Exfoliated vermiculite is used in general building plasters (both hand and spray applied) to improve coverage, ease of handling, adhesion to a wide variety of substrates, fire resistance, and resistance to chipping/cracking/shrinkage. Vermiculite can also be combined with other aggregates such as perlite in plaster formulations.
General plasters used in the building industry can be proprietary mixes that only require the addition of water or site mixes can be batched by adding aggregates and water to a suitable gypsum material.
Proprietary and site mixed plasters can be applied (generally by hand with a hawk and trowel, rather than by machine) to a variety of substrates including concrete, blockwork, expanded metal lath and other plasters or renders.
